Privacy Policy

Jolnova ("the app", "we") is a Windows desktop application that automatically turns live streams into short vertical videos. This policy explains what data we process and why.
1. The app runs on your computer
Recording, clipping, transcription and image processing all happen on your own computer. Recordings and clips are stored on your local disk — they are not uploaded to our servers.
2. Data we process
- Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture. Used for authentication and subscription management. Our authentication provider is Supabase.
- Subscription details: plan type and status. We never store payment card details — those are handled by the payment provider.
- Stream content: the publicly available broadcast data of the streamers you follow (video, audio, chat messages) is processed temporarily to create clips and stored locally.
- AI processing: to write a clip's title and description, the transcript and a chat summary are sent to the Anthropic (Claude) API. This data is not used to train models.
- Device identifier: so that one subscription cannot be run on unlimited machines, the application derives an identifier from your computer and sends it when you sign in. On our server it is kept only as an HMAC hash — the raw identifier is never stored, and the hash cannot be turned back into information about your hardware. It is used solely to count how many machines an account is active on.
- Usage statistics: a small numeric summary of your own activity, grouped by day and by platform (kick, twitch, youtube, tiktok, file or other), with four counters: how many clips were created, approved, rejected and downloaded. We use it to understand how the product is used and to check that subscription limits are working correctly. The only identifier attached is your account UUID, which is read from your sign-in token and is not carried in the data itself — your email address is not sent, and neither is the device identifier described above.
- Clip feedback: when you approve or reject a clip, we record that decision together with the numeric signals the app used to pick that moment — its score, what triggered it (chat reaction or a jump in loudness), its length, the layout, the number of chat messages in the window, and a set of measurements such as how much of the clip is speech and how much of the chat looked like laughter. The name of the streamer the clip came from is included, because a football broadcast and a slots stream need different settings and that difference cannot be learned without it. Your account UUID is attached. We use this only to improve which moments the app selects. The clip itself is never sent — not the video, not a preview image, not the title, not the transcript, not the chat text, and not the clip's file name (only a one-way hash of it, used so the same decision is not counted twice).
None of the data above carries clip content. Video files, preview images, clip titles, subtitle text and chat messages are never sent to our servers. The only place a channel name appears is the clip feedback described above; usage statistics do not contain it.
3. Google / YouTube data
If you choose to connect your YouTube account on the Sharing page, the app requests only these permissions through Google OAuth:
- youtube.upload — to upload clips you approved and scheduled to your own channel
- youtube.readonly — to display the name of the connected channel
Important points:
- Your access token is stored only on your computer and is never sent to us.
- No video is ever uploaded without your approval — you approve the clip and pick the day and time yourself.
- We do not use YouTube data for advertising, and we never sell or transfer it to third parties.
- Jolnova's use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy also applies.
- You can disconnect at any time with “Disconnect” in the app, or revoke our access from your Google account permissions page.
4. Retention and deletion
- Stream recordings are deleted automatically after 6 hours by default so they don't fill your disk.
- You can delete any clip from the app at any time.
- If you want your account and data removed entirely, just write to us.
5. Third-party services
Supabase (authentication and subscriptions), Anthropic (AI text generation) and Google/YouTube (only if you connect your channel on the Sharing page). Jolnova does not connect to any posting account on its own, and uploads only the clips you approved and scheduled yourself.
6. Children's privacy
Jolnova is not intended for anyone under 18.
7. Changes
This policy may be updated. We'll update the date on this page for any significant change.
